Journey to Agay

Sunny Sunday morning I traveled to St. Raphael, but I didn't reach it because of the numerous transport on the roads and heat, and hunger... Only Agay, situated not far from St. Rapahael, was achived.

However, while traveling I made several stops to make some photos of incredible sightsings all over this region. The specifics about this part of French Riviera is that the color of cliffs and rocks is red, which is quite strange, but looks really great! Take a look:

The shore is red like rocks and the sea looks blue and transparent. Such beaches are usually small, but while driving to Agay I've seen plenty of them. As I discovered, the greatest attraction is to dive in these places, maybe because of the another world under the sea. However, a small band of fishes I met even in the Cannes's beach. They were wondering around, swimming between legs :)

Straight path to the yacht :)

And this one is Agay:

Another thing that I found new to me, is the railways all over this region through cliffs and just in front of the sea, beaches and all that stuff. Just take a look:

Sweet life of monkey

Eating bananas has become a habit for me because of their price and quality. They cost the same as apples, which are so common for lithuanians, that's why I switched to them without thinking :) Of course, the varianty of friuts is astonishing and the quality usually is better then I am used to. On the other side, it should be country of grapes, but it doesn't look like that, still don't know why... Will wait for season to begin :)

In French Riviera people don't grow bananas and banana trees don't like to grow here, I think it's because of the climate. Bananas are coming from more southern parts of the world. However, this area, Côte d’Azur-Alpes-Province, is famous of growing the lemon trees.

l'Ile Flottante

So, as I was told by french people, this desert, called "Floating island", is trully french one :) Of course, I had to taste it and I did so. When I opened it, it was a surprise for me to see this:

A strange white thing in a creame... Yeah, it's deliciuos! But what is it? I wouldn't guess :) It's a white part of the egg boiled in a milk. And the creame is yellow part of the egg with corn flour, sugar and milk (I may not be 100% correct, only the idea).

Accident

Today I had an accident with a french man driving a mirco-bus. I think it was my fault that I tried to take another row on the road without looking into the mirror. However, I woked up 15min ago and was in a hurry to get to the job. But he was VERY angry about that! We passed each other in a distance of several centimeters, but without any scratches. He stopped in the middle of the road just before green traffic-light stopping all the others participants and went to my car to have some bad emotions gone out of him. While he was shouting some french words to me, I did undestrand nothing and was able to say only this: "Maybe now we can continue driving?", - of course in English. He was MAD! He shouted something else, then went to his car and looked at me once again. But I had only two thoughts in my mind: "When am I gone get to work?" and "I still don't undestand you and there is no point in this conversation, cause nothing has happend". He said something more and closed the door of his bus. After ~1 minute we continued driving. Looks like for him this accident was much more meaningful then for me. Yeah, it's life :)

"Petit Lu" sausainiai

Maza to, dar pabandyk ji ispakuot! - uzima laiko. O tai valgyt norisi! Zodziu, keista cia vietine logika. Bet, aisku, jei ka nors noresiu vaisint jais, tai tikrai be bakteriju bus :D

Little 'housy'

At last... it's over. At last I found a nice and comfortable place to live! Without any strange smell on the ground flour (in a case of flat), with furniture and a nice people to communicate. It's a villa, quite far from a big tourist towns, but near the motorway :) It's about 16km to get to Sophia Antipolis and 13km to get to the beach in Cannes. However, landlady also said that in 2-3km there is a public swimming pool :) I will definitely have to try that one!

So, I found a little house with two rooms for bedroom and living room, kitchen and bathroom. It costs not too much as it is quite far from touristy places. There is also a small garden, a cat and fishes in a small pool. I am really very excited of living there :) Many thanks to Carin, my co-worker, who helped me a lot in searching and communicating with French people!

Otherwise, it's really amazing what different types of accommodation (from usual to people from Eastern Europe) you can find in French Riviera. As far as the price between an apartment and such a 'housy' is similar :)

Yoghourt - Yogurt

Last time I was in a supermarket, I bought some different kind of yogurt then I used to eat. I mean, without any fruits, flavor, not natural one, just some another kind. It is made from milk (or with milk). The taste is very fresh and natural, you want to eat more and more, it's hard to stop eating! :)

Food in France is very delicious and the taste usually is great, even if you are buying one the cheapest products. The variety of choice is astonishing. Last time I've been choosing a cheese to try :) It took a lot of time to make a decision, lastly I took 3 different ones and now I am tasting them. Think later I will make a post for this topic :)

Pagaliau - alaus degustacija!

Taigi, siandien paragavau pirmo alaus cia (neskaitant Desperados, kuris yra alus maisytas su tekila - visai skanus). Kronenbourg - prancuziskas alus, 4.2%, sviesus.

Cannes on Saturday

Today I woke up and realized several things:

  • I have no Internet and probably won't get it;
  • I don't need to go anywhere (I mean my job);
  • Lastly, the sea is in 7 kilometers! The sun is shining and beaches are waiting for people to come, and the jellyfish.... yeah, they are waiting either :)
So, on the early morning I decided to have my breakfast on the beach. Finding the route without GPS wasn't so hard - the main street goes straight with turn to right at the end.

While driving, I passed the Cannes most famous place with it's red carpet...

As far as I arrived quite early, there were still few places for parking left. However, after parking I realized that the beach in that place is rocky... it was impressive, because beaches in Cannes are very small. So people were just lying on the rocks, getting a sunburn...

The sea is really BLUE! You can even go for a sunburn straight in the sea with a great view...

A little island located not far from Cannes can be seen from the cost.

While making pictures, my legs gone down into the sand, interesting view :)

Unluckily, my camera's battery was dead, so I lost some pictures in 'paparazzi' style with a girls lying on the rocks listening to the radio and smoking a cigarette.

Test of Picasa2 blogging feature

I inserted this image to test the Picasa2 feature :) Looks like it works properly. Thanks to Google, I can insert images to blog more quickly, then ussualy I did with worldpress.com. This image was took yesterday, in a old town of Valbonne town. It is unussual to see such narrow streets around and the cars passing them. But it is very cosy to walk down the streets and watch native french people holding their small shops for wine, picture galleries, souvenirs or other things to sell.

Here is a wine shop just behind me from the first photo :)

Introduction

Hello!

This blog is announced to be open at 04/07/2007. The purpose of it is to express the journey I took not long ago to France, southern region near Nice and Cannes, and to deliver the impression to my family members, friends and other people I know, or even may not know :)

For me it was and still is a question of language to use, because of my russian-lithuanian internationality. I decided to use mostly English as probably all Internet users are familiar with it. However, some posts may be still in Russian or Lithuanian.

So, welcome to visit, to place some comments and don't forget to come back :)
